On March 28th, to foster academic exchange and strengthen international cooperation, KICJ convened 1st Expert Group Meeting(EGM) of 2023 with Ritsumeikan University, located in Kyoto, Japan. The theme of the meeting was ‘Psychology and welfare in Criminal Justice System of South Korea and Japan’, and issues concerning ▲psychological assessment under the justice system, ▲hearing statements from victims and children, ▲judicial agency’s psychology training, ▲supporting families who suffered domestic violence were discussed. Project researcher Dr. Sungeun Kim(majored in family law) and Specialized Researcher Dr. Yuki Nakata(majored in legal-psychology) of Ritsumeikan University presented on the issues, and Dr. Kyoungmi Lee, manager of Domestic Cooperation & Public Relations Team under Cooperation Office of KICJ, and two research fellows of Civil & Commercial Legal Policy Research Division of KICJ, Dr. Yoori Seong and Dr. Minji Kim, participated in the discussion, resulting in fruitful academic exchange.
