Korean Institute of Criminology hosted a symposium on ‘Respecting Life in Criminal Law in Korea and Germany’ on 16 May, 2013. This symposium provided an opportunity to look back on 10-year history record in legislation, court ruling, and academic research regarding ‘Respecting Life in Criminal Law’, as Korea Criminal Law Association organized a seminar on related cases back in 2001. It was meaningful time to review how judicial and practical areas have respected the life in embryos, fetus, infant, suicide, euthanasia and internal organ transplant by focusing on Korea and Germany cases. For this symposium, KIC invited a world class level scholar, Prof. Dr. jur. h.c. mult. Bernd Sch?nemann of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit?t (LMU) Munich. Prof. Bernd Sch?nemann also delivered a colloquium on criminal law of Germany in KIC on 21 May.
