Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), led by President Tae-hoon Ha, successfully hosted a research visit for the Indonesian Directorate General of Corrections delegation on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. This exchange was initiated at the request of a 15-member delegation from the Indonesian Directorate General of Corrections, including Mr. Supriyanto (Secretary of the Directorate General of Corrections) and Mr. Dewo Broto Joko Putranto (Director of Law and Regulations, Ministry of National Planning), and was conducted in the conference room on the 12th floor of the institute.

During this research visit, in-depth presentations and discussions were held on the methodologies of crime statistics in the operation of correctional facilities in Korea, as well as on the enhancement of data management and analysis capabilities. The event followed the order of an introduction to the institute, presentations, and a Q&A session. Seong-hoon Park, the director of Digital Center for Criminal Justice and Law, presented on 'Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics (CCJS)', project manager of Crime Statistics Research Center Wonshin Hong discussed data from the correctional statistics annual report, and Jinhong Kim, an iT programme officer of Crime Statistics Research Center, spoke on the utilization of CCJS statistical services. During the subsequent Q&A session, the Indonesian delegation posed questions about the advancement of Korea's correctional facility operations and data utilization, leading to a vibrant exchange of diverse opinions among the participants. This research visit served as a significant opportunity to facilitate discussions on current issues and research cooperation plans between the two institutions, fostering a close cooperative relationship and mutual development between the two countries.

Following this exchange, both institutions and countries are expected to continue strengthening development and cooperation in the fields of corrections and probation through ongoing research exchanges.
