The Twenty-Eighth Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) was held under the subject of thematic discussion, “The responsibility of effective, fair, and humane criminal justice systems in preventing and countering crime motivated by intolerance or discrimination of any kind” between 20 and 24 May 2019 in Vienna, Austria. Contributions made by KIC to the Session included: (a) statements in the general debate on Item 5 and 7, respectively, on Thematic discussion on the responsibility of effective, fair, humane and accountable criminal justice systems in preventing and countering crime motivated by intolerance or discrimination of any kind and Use and application of United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice; (b) co-hosting the side event titled, “Addressing hate crimes against refugees and immigrants in Europe and Asia-Pacific” with HEUNI on May 22nd.
