The Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (President In-Sup Han) held a joint seminar with Mr. Sang-Min Kim from National Assembly and the Subcommittee for the Abolition of Capital Punishment under the Committee for Justice & Peace of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea under the theme of ‘The Conditions and Prospects of Alternatives to Death Penalty’ on May 31st, 2021. This seminar provided an opportunity to refer alternatives to the death penalty to public opinion, beyond a mere discussion on the abolition of the death penalty. Dr. Dae-Keun Kim (Research Fellow, KICJ) delivered a presentation on the grounds for and against capital punishment and introduced the current status and the reality of death penalty.
