On June 13th, KICJ, along with the Center for Military Human Rights and Representatives Sanghee Kim, Sunmee Jin, Jumin Park, Minjung Kang, Insook Kwon, Soojin Lee, and Tahney Lee, organized a froum at the National Assembly of Korea on the significance and implications of the Supreme Court ruling (2019Do3047) on Article 92-6 of the Military Criminal Act. At the forum, KICJ Research Fellow Dr. Taegyung Gahng talked about the Supreme Court ruling on Article 92-6 (Indecent Act) of the Military Criminal Act, including the indicted facts, literal interpretation, and the issue of legally protected interests. The presentation was followed by a discussion on the problems of applying the offense of 'indecent act' and the subsequent outing of LGBTQ soldiers, as well as on the analysis of the Supreme Court decision.
