On December 2nd, KICJ, Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), Korean Criminal Law Association, Korean Association of Criminology, and the Korean Association of Comparative Criminal Law organized a joint conference on the 'future-oriented development plans for CIO' in Seoul.

Session 1, moderated by Prof. Han-joong Jung (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), began with Prof. Yunje Lee (Myongji University) discussing the "relationships between CIO and other investigative agencies." Prosecutor Siyoung Park (CIO) led the discussions. Next, Prof. Dong-ho Yun (Kookmin University) spoke on the "limitations of the CIO Act and plans for strengthening investigative capacity." Prof. Ro-Seop Park (Hallym University) and Prof. Yong Chul Park (Sogang University) participated in the discussions on the ways to facilitate the operation of CIO.

Session II was moderated by Prof. Hyewook Won (Inha University). Prof. Cheong-Hak Choi (Korea National Open University) spoke on "prosecution reform and the role of CIO," with Prosecutor Dohyung Kwon (CIO) leading the subsequent discussions. Next, Prof. Jaehyun Cho (Dong-A University) discussed "improving the management of the organization and human resources of CIO." KICJ Research Fellow Dr. Yeong-jung Kim and Prof. Byoung Sik Park (Division of Public Affairs and Police Administration, Dongguk University) participated in the discussions on designing plan of action for legal amendments.
