On April 17th, the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ) held a research visit event in the institute's conference room with a three-person delegation from Illinois State University (ISU). This event was a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding signed in November last year with ISU, and was attended by Dr. Chad McEvoy, Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology, Dr. Donna Selman, Head of the Department of Criminal Justice Sciences, and Dr. Mijin Kim, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.

The visit focused on discussing specific areas for future research collaboration, including juvenile crime prevention, the use of digital technology in crime prevention, legal policy research, and private prison studies.

Dean Chad McEvoy expressed gratitude for the hospitality and the opportunity for cooperation. In response, President Ha Tae-hoon thanked the delegation for visiting the institute and expressed anticipation for active research and academic exchanges between the two institutions in the future.

KICJ continues to analyze and research the status, causes, and countermeasures of various crimes comprehensively and systematically as the sole national policy research institution in the field of crime and criminal policy in Korea. The institute actively expands its research impact through international collaborations, including exchanges with ISU, participation in the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (UNPNI) activities, attending regular sessions of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), hosting international academic forums (KICJIF), and publishing research in English.
