President Zin-Hwan Kim, Opening Ceremony

From 29 May until 2 June, the Korean Institute of Criminology attended at the Regional Training on Victimization Surveys in Asia-Pacific, held at the Bayview Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand. The workshop was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) and the Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC). Representative from national statistical agencies and relevant institution of criminal justice system from 16 countries of the Asia-Pacific region attended the meeting. Participants received training which involved interaction between trainers and participants, including presentations, multimedia instructions and group-work activities. From KIC, President Zin-Hwan Kim delivered welcoming remarks on the first day and Director of International Strategic Research Center Dr. Seong-Jin Yeon gave presentations on “Victimization Surveys: what are they and why are they important?” and “Data Analysis and Dissemination”. Director of General Crime Research Division Dr. Jisun Kim gave a presentation on “Korean Crime Victimization Survey: 25 Years of Experience” and Research Fellow of Crime Statistics Research Division Dr. Soo-Hyeong Choi gave a presentation on “Korean Crime Victim Survey: SDG Indicators”.
