31st Session of UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

The 31st session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) was held in a hybrid format at Vienna, Austria from May 16 to May 20, 2022. This year's thematic discussion focused on digital evidence in criminal justice and countering cybercrime. KICJ, as a member of the Institutes of UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (PNI), attended the PNI Workshop on May 16 and discussions on agenda items 6, 7, and 8 that pertained to relevant topics. The PNI workshop, consisting of six presentations from experts and subsequent discussions, examined legal and investigative approaches to online child sexual abuse and exploitation as well as new technological tools to assist investigations.

The session adopted three resolutions on wildlife trafficking, reducing reoffending via rehabilitation and reintegration, and protection of minors from sexual abuse and exploitation. A resolution following up on the Kyoto Declaration and preparing for the upcoming 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice was also adopted.
