The Korean Institute of Criminology (President Tae-hoon Ha) held a virtual joint academic seminar entitled ‘Is the current management of high-risk released prisoners sufficient?’ with the Korean Society for Correction Service and the Korea Correctional Service (Ministry of Justice). This seminar was held to discuss ‘the management plan for high-risk released prisoners’ which has been widely debated in the media. At the seminar, presentation and discussion were delivered in the following topics: ▲ measures to improve the validity of classification indicators (with a focus on predicting recidivism of inmates); and ▲ critical review of the current electronic supervision of parole (focusing on resolving prison overcrowding)
