On September 26th, KICJ convened the 'Annual Seminar for the Abolition of Death Penalty 2022' with the Committee for Justice and Peace of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea along with Representatives Sang-min Lee and Chil-seung Kwon.

The seminar began with opening remarks from Reverand Sontae Kim and congratulatory remarks from Hong-geun Park, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, as well as speeches from KICJ President Tae-Hoon Ha, Representative Sang-min Lee, and Chil-seung Kwon. Hyung-tae Kim, lawyer, presided over the meeting. KICJ Senior Research Fellow Dr. Hankyun Kim spoke on the deterrence effect of puninitveness in criminal justice policies.

Prof. Hyun Kyong Joo from Chungnam National University Law School, Judge Ji-woong Jang from the Cheongju District Court under Daejeon High Court, Tae-hyung Jang, prosecutor at the Criminal Legislation Division of the Ministry of Justice, Jeong-gi Seo, director of EDUPEACE Research Institute for Restorative Justice, and Chae-wan Seo, lawyer from MINBYUN Lawyers for a Democratic Society participated in the discussions.
