Joint Seminar with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea

On September 28th, KICJ convened a joint seminar with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.


The seminar was attended by Hyung-seok Cho, director of the Human Rights Policy Division, Eui-seok Jeong, Tae-yoon Lee, Jin-kyung Moon, and Soo-jin Oh from the Commission, and Hyunwook Chun, director of Criminal Policy Research Division, Seonghoon Park, director of the Crime Statistics Research Center, Kyunggyu Park, director of Research Planning, Minyoung Kim, director of Performance Management & Public Relations, and researchers Jeseong Cho, Youngoh Hong, Jisun Kim, Sang Kyun Bae, Jinhwan Chang, Minji Kim, and Youna Jeong from KICJ.


KICJ Research Fellow Jeseong Cho spoke on protecting and supporting victims of stalking and their rights; Soo-jin Oh from the Commission discussed the Act on Use and Protection of DNA Identification Information. The presentations were followed by a discussion session.


KICJ signed an MOU with the Commission on May 11th this year to encourage academic exchange and cooperation in the field of human rights. A policy research working group meeting was held in July to , the efforts of which have resulted in this first joint seminar on human rights policy research and major human rights issues. Both institutions plan to organize joint seminars on a regular basis and continue their academic and policy conversation on human rights.
