KIC will host the World Crime Forum as the first Asian regional conference on 20 June 2013, in Seoul, Korea. The World Crime Forum was proposed and designed by the International Society for Criminology with the intent to make criminology and criminal justice issues more relevant and visible. The current areas of concern in criminology, criminal justice, crime policy that are of interest internationally will be discussed and presented with limited formality or rigid structures to stimulate interaction while taking into consideration the regional characteristics. The theme for the upcoming year is “Information Society and Cybercrime: Challenges for Criminology and Criminal Justice.” It will be a meaningful event for the KIC, not only because cybercrime has been an area of focus for the KIC over the years, but also for the criminologists, criminal justice practitioners, policy makers, scholars and students in Asia to be able to take part in and share expertise envisioned by the World Crime Forum.
